The fuel tanks are integral to the hull and were blasted to near white and coated with Altex Devoe epoxy coatings per specifications. Most fuel piping is stainless and there are shutoffs for the feed and return for each tank. The tank capacities in US gallons are as follows:
Fuel System Plumbing: The main port and starboard tanks act as header tanks. Engines and generators are fed through Racor MA 500 dual filters. The transfer system is used to transfer fuel to these tanks from the forward and ballast tanks. A large valve connects the main port and main starboard tanks. During normal operation this valve is closed but is opened during fueling. Large access panels are located on all tanks and drain valves are installed at the bottom of each tank.
Fuel Transfer and Polishing: The control panel is located adjacent to the electrical panel in the shop area. Fuel can be transferred from any tank to any tank by positioning valves and turning on the transfer pump timer. Fuel is polished through a Racor MA 1000 10 micron fuel filter whenever fuel is being transferred or polished.
